5th Helmut Veith Stipend recipient announced
It is our pleasure to announce Anna Baghumayn as the fifth recipient of the Helmut Veith Stipend for Female Master’s Students in Computer Science, submission period November 2020.
The scholarship is awarded to Anna Baghumayn, who has recently graduated from the American University of Armenia with a BS in Computer Science and who has been admitted to the Data Science Master program at TU Wien.
Ms Baghumayn received an Akian Scholarship for her Bachelor Studies during which she was particularly interested in statistics, optimization and probability classes. During internships she gained experience as a web and android developer and to expand her skills in these fields of research she enrolled for extracurricular classes such as online programming courses by Udemy and data science classes. In addition, Anna Baghumayn also participated in several study-related projects and case studies such as predicting employee churn, classifying song genres from audio data, correctly guessing the street signs for smart cars, forecasting the weather using machine learning techniques.
Anna Baghumayn is planning to start her studies at TU Wien in the winter semester 2021/22.
Helmut Veith Stipend
The Helmut Veith Stipend is awarded annually to motivated female students in the field of computer science who pursue (or plan to pursue) one of the master’s programs in Computer Science at TU Wien taught in English.
The recipients of the Helmut Veith Stipend receive a grant of 6000 EUR annually for a duration of up to two years and a waiver of all tuition fees at TU Wien. The annually awarded scholarship is funded by TU Wien, the Wolfgang Pauli Institute, and by the Friends and Family of the later Helmut Veith.
The Helmut Veith Stipend is dedicated to the memory of an outstanding computer scientist who worked in the fields of logic in computer science, computer-aided verification, software engineering, and computer security. Helmut Veith, who tragically passed away in March 2016, was a strong advocate and mentor for women in computer science.
