What a night! The Vienna Ball of Sciences 2025 celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Saturday, January 25, at Vienna’s city hall (Rathaus). As part of the many attractions of the event, ball guests had the opportunity to put their logic skills to the test with our logic puzzle “The Revenge of Schrödinger’s Cat (the solution is available here).” The task was to discover the acts of mischief committed by five cats in Schrödinger’s lab! The clues for the puzzle were created by Michele Collevati, a PhD student in our doctoral college LogiCS@TUWien. A heartfelt thanks goes to all volunteers at the VCLA stand: Anastasia Isychev, Anouk Oudshoorn, and Tommaso Mannelli Mazzoli!
The fastest guests to solve the puzzle on the evening of the ball were Polina Dimitrova, Tara McAteer, and Chloé Bucheron from the Vienna BioCenter and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Network Medicine! Second place went to Steve Ehrenberger (Urban Studies), and third place was awarded to Analli Torres and Ioannis Pitcock (University of Notre Dame – Law Studies). Congratulations!
Prizes included a signed copy of Florian Aigner’s popular science quantum physics book “Warum wir nicht durch Wände gehen * unsere Teilchen aber schon” (Why we don’t walk through walls * but our particles do), the graphic novel “Logicomix: An Epic Search for Truth” by Apostolos Doxiadis and Christos Papadimitriou, and VCLA shirts!
