Vienna Ball of Sciences 2025

DATE:Saturday, January 25, 2025
TIME:20:00
VENUE:Wiener Rathaus (city hall)

It’s ballroom dancing season again! The Vienna Ball of Sciences 2025 will be held on Saturday, January 25, at Vienna’s city hall (Rathaus). As part of the many attractions of the event, ball guests will have the opportunity to put their logic skills to the test! As the topic of the ball is quantum physics, this year’s logic puzzle “The Revenge of Schrödinger’s Cat” will require visitors to find out which cat has committed which act of mischief in Schrödinger’s lab! The clues for the puzzle were created by Michele Collevati, a PhD student in our doctoral college LogiCS@TUWien.

The fastest guests to solve the puzzle on the evening of the ball will receive a prize at the VCLA stand! This year, we have a special prize in store for you: a signed copy of Florian Aigner’s popular science quantum physics book “Warum wir nicht durch Wände gehen * unsere Teilchen aber schon” (Why we don’t walk through walls * but our particles do). Other prizes include the graphic novel Logicomix: An Epic Search for Truth” by Apostolos Doxiadis and Christos Papadimitriou, and VCLA shirts!
